Unflavored coffee in its natural form is kosher since it only comes into contact with water. Adding flavoring makes coffee no longer kosher. The decaffeination process can also impact kosher certification. At Pod Pack, we use the water-based method to decaffeinate coffee to maintain kosher status.

Kosher certification requires rabbinical supervision of the production process to meet Jewish dietary standards. Since kosher certification is only valid for one year, we complete the following steps annually:

1. Apply to pair with a Rabbinic Coordinator.
2. Schedule an initial consultation with the Rabbinic Coordinator to have them learn more about production.
3. Complete a site walk-through with the Rabbinic Coordinator and make any adjustments to plans or procedures to maintain a kosher setup.
4. Sign the official contract and receive certification to label our products as kosher.

In addition to annual certification, we undergo periodic inspections to ensure we continue to meet kosher standards.
